The mechanics
How eBay seller fees work in 2026
Every eBay sale has two fee components: a percentage final value fee based on the total amount the buyer pays, and a fixed per-order fee. The final value fee is charged on the item price plus shipping plus sales tax. For most categories the rate is 13.6% up to $7,500 and 2.35% on the portion above $7,500. A Basic Store subscription or higher lowers most categories to about 12.7%. The per-order fee is $0.30 for orders of $10 or less and $0.40 above that.
On top of the base fee, four things commonly change your real cost: Top Rated Plus takes 10% off the percentage portion, Promoted Listings adds your chosen ad rate, an international buyer adds 1.65%, and below-standard or high return-rate status adds 6% or 5%. How much are eBay seller fees in 2026?
For most categories, eBay charges a 13.6% final value fee on the total sale (item price plus shipping) up to $7,500, then 2.35% on any amount above that, plus a per-order fee of $0.30 for orders of $10 or less and $0.40 for orders over $10. A Basic Store subscription or higher lowers the percentage to about 12.7% in most categories.
Does eBay charge fees on shipping and sales tax?
Yes. The final value fee is calculated on the total amount the buyer pays, which includes the item price, the shipping you charge, and sales tax. eBay collects and remits the sales tax, so it is not part of your payout, but the fee percentage still applies to it.
What is the eBay per-order fee?
A fixed fee charged once per order: $0.30 when the order total is $10 or less, and $0.40 when it is over $10. Authenticity Guarantee sneakers sold for $150 or more are charged a flat 8% with no per-order fee.
How does Top Rated Plus change my fees?
Top Rated Plus qualifying listings receive a 10% discount on the percentage portion of the final value fee. For example, a 13.6% rate becomes 12.24%. The per-order fee is not discounted.
What is the eBay international fee?
When the buyer's registered address is outside the United States and you are not using eBay International Shipping, eBay adds a 1.65% international fee on the total sale amount.
