Mercari Fee & Payout Calculator
Mercari's fee is a flat 10.0%— so the real question isn't "how much is the fee," it's what lands in your bank. This shows your exact payout on item plus shipping, whether the free direct deposit or the $3 instant transfer, and your profit after cost.
Your sale
Mercari's 10% applies to the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays. If you offer free shipping, that shipping is part of your price — enter it here. Sales tax is buyer-paid and excluded.
Your costs — optional, for profit
What you paid for the item, the label you actually buy, and any supplies — to turn payout into real profit.
Your payout
$40.50
US Mercari rate: a flat 10.0%selling fee on the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays, in place since January 6, 2025. There is no separate seller payment-processing fee; the buyer’s own checkout fee is excluded from your payout. Standard direct deposit is free; instant payout costs $3. The mechanics
How Mercari seller fees work in 2026
Mercari runs the simplest math of the big resale apps: one flat 10.0% selling fee on the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays. There is no per-order fee and — since the January 2025 reset — no separate seller payment-processing fee either. Whatever the buyer's side of the transaction costs them, it doesn't touch you.
Because the percentage never changes, the only lever left on your take-home is how you get paid. A standard direct deposit to your bank is free; Mercari's instant payout pulls the money the same day for a flat $3. That $3 barely registers on an $80 sale but eats a real slice of a $12 one — which is the honest reason to think of this as a payout tool, not just a fee multiplier.
One wrinkle from the fee history: listings created during Mercari's 2024 zero-fee experiment were grandfatheredon the old terms until they were edited or relisted. Touch one after January 6, 2025 and it moves to today's flat 10.0% — the structure this calculator models.

The math, at a glance
Mercari payout by sale (2026, standard direct deposit)
| Item + shipping | 10% fee | Your payout | If instant ($3) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $15.00 + $4.00 | − $1.90 | $17.10 | $14.10 |
| $40.00 + $5.00 | − $4.50 | $40.50 | $37.50 |
| $80.00 + $8.00 | − $8.80 | $79.20 | $76.20 |
| $150.00 | − $15.00 | $135.00 | $132.00 |
The flat 10% keeps your effective rate steady across prices; the $3 instant-payout fee is the only thing that bends it on small sales. Source: Mercari published fee schedule, verified July 13, 2026.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
How much does Mercari take per sale in 2026?
Mercari charges sellers a flat 10% selling fee on the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays. That is the only seller fee — there is no separate payment-processing fee and no per-order fee. A $40 item with $5 buyer-paid shipping is a $45 sale, so Mercari takes $4.50 and you keep $40.50 by standard direct deposit.
Did Mercari bring back seller fees?
Yes. Mercari tested a zero-seller-fee model in 2024, then reversed it on January 6, 2025 and returned to a flat 10% selling fee. It dropped the old separate seller payment-processing fee at the same time, so the 10% is now the whole seller cut on item plus shipping.
What are my grandfathered Mercari listings?
Listings created during the 2024 zero-fee window kept the old fee structure until they were edited or relisted. Any listing you touch after January 6, 2025 moves to the current flat 10%. This calculator models the current 10% structure that applies to new and edited listings; if you still have an untouched pre-2025 listing, confirm its terms in your Mercari account.
Does Mercari charge sellers for shipping?
The buyer pays for shipping at checkout, but Mercari's 10% fee is calculated on the item price plus that shipping amount — so shipping is part of the fee base even though the buyer funds it. If you offer free shipping, the shipping cost is baked into your price and the fee applies to the whole amount.
What is Mercari's instant payout fee?
Standard direct-deposit payouts to your bank are free and typically arrive in a few business days. If you want the money right away, Mercari's instant payout costs a flat $3 per transfer. Toggle it in the calculator to see it come out of your take-home.
How is Mercari's fee different from eBay's or Poshmark's?
Mercari's flat 10% on item plus shipping is usually the lowest and simplest of the three. eBay charges about 13.6% plus a $0.30–$0.40 per-order fee on item, shipping, and tax combined; Poshmark takes a flat $2.95 under $15 or 20% at $15 and up on the item price only. On a mid-priced item, Mercari's 10% typically leaves the most in your pocket.
